Madrasah Imam Bukhari is based in Masjid Imam Bukhari, located in the Belgrave area of Leicester.
It is one of the largest Madrasah’s in the area of Belgrave and has many students coming from the surrounding neighbouring areas.
The Madrasah facilitates evening classes for boys and girls from the age of 5 onwards since the 90’s and has capacity for up to 500 children. Along with being taught how to recite the Quran, the students have many other lessons that gives them an understanding of Islam and how Muslims should live in Britain. The Madrasah aims to make learning fun and enjoyable for its students and believes this is the best way for children to learn.
The Madrasah classes are split in to 3 sections. Nursery, Primary and Secondary. It also has Hifz classes for boys.
At the end of the Madrasah curriculum we hope to equip the children with enough understanding of Islam to lead their lives as Muslims.
The Nursery section concentrates on the pronunciation and recognition of the Arabic alphabet to then joining letters. Emphasis is given to get the children familiar with the Madrasah environment. Lessons are delivered in an interactive and fun method.
The primary section is spread over four years. This is where the pupils start joining letters and forming sentences. Gradually over the primary section they learn to read fluently with Tajweed. Three different subject are introduced to the pupils, Fiqh (Jurisprudence), Seerah (History of the Prophet r) and Aqaaid (Beliefs of Muslims). Lessons are taught in an interactive and engaging manner where pupils express their understanding of topics via wall displays etc etc etc
The Secondary section is where students know how to read the Quraan. Here they learn the rules for how to pronounce letters, the qualities of the letters etc. the subject are also in more depth.
